Rancatore's is right on Mass Ave in the middle of Lexington Center (also in Belmont and Newton). Similar to Toscanini's but with different flavor choices and drinks.

The ice cream is very dense, richly flavored; they also have interesting sorbets.

If you're picking something up for me: Mango Sorbet (fallback Cookie Dough.)

Eriksons is a roadside icecream stand in Maynard (right on the Stow line.) Lots of novel flavors, lots of family history. Open late (9:30pm this year) in the summer. Window service (lots of windows) and picnic tables, lots of parking.

They do have some soft serve. They don't have classic dip cones, but they usually have sugar cones that are themselves chocolate coated, which is tasty but not what I was looking for.

If you're picking something up for me: Maple Pecan or Cookie Dough, falling back whatever is the third item on the special's board.
